La Liga: Real Madrid resume its title bid after 3-1 win over Eibar

Real Madrid and Zidane brace for crucial European night

Real Madrid has resumed their La Liga title race with a 3-1 win over Eibar. Real Madrid's victory has reduced the gap behind league leaders Barcelona back to two points after the Catalans thrashed Real Mallorca 4-0 on Saturday.

Toni Kroos opened for the Spanish Giants on the fourth minute and within 37 minutes they were up by three goals after Sergio Ramos and Marcelo scored.

Eden Hazard was making his first start since February after he injured his right ankle in November and February. He underwent surgery in March.

Hazard and Ramos were taken off before the start of the second half and were seen with ice packs strapped to them while sitting in the stands.

"We knew Eden would lack a bit of rhythm playing the whole game," coach Zinedine Zidane said.

"He played well for an hour, he took a knock which was a scare but at half-time, he said he was fine. He is happy with what he has done and we are happy with him."

Eibar tried to make a comeback after Pedro Bigas scored in the second half but it could not happen.

One of the biggest moments of the games was when Real Madrid defender Marcelo showed his support to the Black Lives Matter campaign by taking a knee after he scored a goal for his club against Eibar.
