On Tuesday (April 16), Jos Buttler's 107* triumphed over Sunil Narine's 109 as Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a high-scoring thriller at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Being asked to bat first, Shreyas Iyer-led KKR posted 223/6, riding on Narine's maiden IPL hundred, before RR were on the back foot and needed 79 off the last 30 balls. In the end overs, Buttler and Rovman Powell started the onslaughtand took their side home with two wickets in hand. Powell (13-ball 26) attacked Narine, in the 17th over, and shifted the momentum before Buttler took charge, after losing his partner. The Englishman earned a win for his side on the penultimate ball of the contest.
Buttler started off well but was slow in the middle overs. Riyan Parag (14-ball 34) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (9-ball 19) provided the much-needed impetus before the Englishman was joined by Powell. Their seventh-wicket stand changed the complexion of the game before Buttler turned it around with his seventh IPL ton. However, the veteran opener feels he didn't single-handedly win the game for his side.
Speaking to Jio Cinema, Buttler said, "No, I wouldn't say that at all. I think there are a few great cameos from the guys. Riyan Parag really got us going. He came in and struck the ball beautifully, and I think the way Rovman Powell played, you know that over against Narine. The way he took him on really sort of swung the momentum."
“And then, as you know, keep believing. I think that was the key. You know, the negative thoughts do come in, and you start to question yourself, Is it too much to do? But, then try and flip it completely and sort of dare to dream,"Buttler further opined.
Despite some good cameos from Parag and Powell, Buttler still had to do the bulk of the job after losing the West Indian. RR were in need of another 46 when Powell departed but Buttler got the boundaries at will to chase down the score. With this win, RR continue to remain atop with six victories from seven games.

At the post-match presentation, RR captain Samson said, "Very happy with the win. We were wondering like the wickets we lost ... six down and then Rovman came in and hit those couple of sixes and that's when we felt like we were still in the game." He added, "Jos did what he does for us from last 6-7 years, very happy for him. It (Buttler's knock) should go right on top. Being an opener, if Jos gets in, we all know at the dug-out that he'll be there till the 20th over. If he's batting till the 20th over, no runs are unchaseable. He does something special."
