IPL 2024: 'Did not intend': Rishabh Pant issues apology to cameraman after DC vs GT match

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has won the hearts of fans after he issued a sincere and endearing apology to a camera person who was hit by one of the star batter's shots. The franchise uploaded a video of Pant where he extended his heartfelt apology.
"One of the camerapersons from our BCCI Production Crew got hit during the DC vs GT match. Rishabh Pant - Delhi Capitals' captain and Player of the Match - has a special message for the cameraperson," the caption read.
Pant, standing alongside head coach Ricky Ponting said:"Sorry Debashish bhai (brother), did not intend to hit you, but I think you can recover well and good luck."
The Delhi skipper was at his marauding best on Wednesday (Apr 24) and his shot may have hurt one of the cameramen, who are usually stationed near the boundary ropes.
Pant's blitzkrieg sinks GT
DC registered a thrilling victory against GT after Pant's masterful 88 off 43 deliveries ensured that the team finished with an above-par total of 224/4. GT bowlers kept things tight as both openers, Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk, as well as Shai Hope departed in the powerplay overs.
With backs against the wall, Pant joined forces with Axar Patel and the duo cautiously stitched a partnership. It was only in the later half of the innings that Pant exploded and batted GT out of the contest.
"Surely at 43/3, we wanted to just keep going and target their main spinners. If we get something, we will take it on and keep rotating the strike," said Pant after the match.
"Every day that I'm in the middle, I feel better. Every hour on the field matters, I love being on the field. I try to give it my 100% and it takes some time sometimes. I think the first six in the match gives me the confidence in a game. The more time I spend in the centre, the better I feel," he added.
Given that Pant has returned to competitive cricket 14 months after his horrific car crash in late 2022, the DC star player has been among runs and is now a strong contender for a berth in the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in West Indies and USA in June.
