IPL 2019 auction ends: Jaydev Unadkat and Varun Chakaravarthy sold costliest; Mumbai buy Yuvraj

The auctions for IPL 2019 has finally closed. Uncapped Indian players got the biggest deals along with a few players from Windies. However, the event proved to be a mixed bag for star players.

Though Yuvraj Singh managed to find a buyer in the second round, many stalwarts including Dale Steyn and Jason Holder failed to attract any bid and were left unsold. 

Manan Vohra sold to Rajasthan Royals for 20 lakhs. 

Shrikant Mudhe is sold to Kolkata for Rs 20 lakhs.

No bidders for Armaan Jaffer, Ayush Badoni. Though Bangalore rope in Akshdeep Nath at 3.6 crores.

Nath plays for Uttar Pradesh in Indian domestic cricket. He is a right-hand batsman and occasional right arm medium pace bowler. He was the vice-captain of the India Under-19 cricket team that won the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Australia

Oshane Thomas - The Jamaican cricketer was sold to @rajasthanroyals for INR 110 lacs.

His pace and bounce troubled the Indian batsmen during the recently concluded ODI series. The 21-year-old has taken 26 wickets from 17 T20 matches at a strike rate of 14.3 and an economy rate of 8.27.

Kane Richardson, Abhimanyu Mithun, Morne Morkel, Vinay Kumar, Lockie Ferguson and Dale Steyn remain unsold.

IPL 2019 Auction

Keeping the hectic schedule in mind leading up to the World Cup in England from May 30 to July 14, Australian stars like Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell have opted out of the auction.

Though dates and venue are not yet announced, the IPL is expected to run from the last week of March to mid-May.

Since the World Cup will begin two weeks after the IPL, it has raised questions on the availability of the Australian players who will be named in the squad for the showpiece.

The same goes for England players who will be required to report to the World Cup preparatory camp in the middle of the IPL.

A total of 70 players can be bought at the auction with 20 slots available for the the foreign players.

India Test regulars like Cheteswar Pujara and Ishant Sharma have also thrown their hat into the ring with base prices of Rs 50 and Rs 75 lakh respectively.

Alongside the big names, a host of uncapped Indian players will be up for grabs with some of them expected to turn millionaires overnight.

IPL Auction 2019

The IPL 2019 Player Auction is scheduled to take place in Jaipur today where a total pool of 346 cricketers set to undergo the hammer.

While 1003 players had initially registered, the final list has been pruned after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players.

With Rs 2 crore as the highest reserve price, nine overseas players – Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, D'Arcy Short - have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket.

Jaydev Unadkat, last season's top Indian grosser with a whopping final bid amount of Rs 11.5 crore leads the pack among Indian players with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. 

Former Punjab all-rounders Yuvraj Singh and Axar Patel have set their base price at Rs 1 crore.

With Rs 1.5 crore as base price, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel will hope to return to action for the 12th edition of IPL. 

Among the Indian quicks, Mohammed Shami has set his base price at Rs 1 crore while Ishant Sharma will invite the first bid at Rs 75 lakh.
