Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata defeated Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led Hyderabad to start their Indian Premier League 2019 campaign on a winning note.
After winning the toss, Karthik put Hyderabad to bat first at the high scoring pitch of Eden Gardens.
Batting first, the comeback-man David Warner struck 85 off 53 balls and shared a 118-run stand for the first wicket with wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow (39).
Vijay Shankar contributed unbeaten 40 in Hyderabad's total to give Kolkata a 182-run target.
While chasing, Kolkata suffered a bumpy start but the middle order batsmen held inspired the team towards victory.
Andre Russell played a whirlwind unbeaten knock of 49-runs to script his side's dramatic win after Nitish Rana scored 68 at top of the batting order.
