India aim to defeat Kenya again to win 2018 Intercontinental Cup

India will face Kenya in the summit showdown of the Intercontinental Cup in Mumbai on Sunday.

In their previous clash, India had beaten Kenya 3-0 in the league game at the Mumbai Football Arena. The game was also skipper Sunil Chhetri's 100th appearance and the Indian captain did not disappoint the audience by scoring two goals. 

The team will look to replicate the performance of their league game against the African side again. 

Today's game is also claimed to be a 'house full' match by the organisers.

The tournament is being used by hosts India as a preparatory ground for the AFC Asian Cup, to be held in January next year, and a win in the final will surely boost their confidence. 

India won two of their three league games easily, before losing their third to New Zealand. 

The 2-1 loss, though, could not change the fact that India have already entered the final of the tournament.

Coach Stephen Constantine, who made 7 changes in the New Zealand match, will be wary of the team’s flaws and gaps, while Kenya will look to exploit the same to take the revenge. 

India will still enter the final as favourites though, but will still need to be careful against Kenya, who might surprise them, just like the Kiwis did.

The match will be played at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai at 8:00 pm.
