Haas retains Grosjean, Magnussen for 2019 season

French Formula One driver Romain Grosjean (L) of Haas F1 Team and Danish teammate Formula One driver Kevin Magnussen.

Formula One racing team Haas announced on Friday that it will keep French driver Romain Grosjean and Dane Kevin Magnussen as their lead drivers for the 2019 season.

In a statement issued minutes before the start of the first free practice for the Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi Autodrom, Haas confirmed that it would be continuing with the Grosjean-Magnussen duo.

"From the very beginning, we needed experienced drivers to hasten the development of our car and our team, and we have two very good and experienced drivers in Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen", Haas Director Guenther Steiner. "We've improved drastically from last year to this year, so retaining both drivers was a pretty easy decision".

Grosjean joined Haas in 2016, while Magnussen was signed a year later.

In its third season in the championship, Haas is currently placed 5th in the constructor standings with 76 points.
