French Open: Dominic Thiem eases past Alexander Zverev to enter semi-final

World number eight, Dominic Thiem defeated Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 to enter his third successive French Open semi-final on Tuesday at Philippe-Chatrier.

Thiem, the Austrian seventh seed forced Zverev to make four double faults and outplayed him in three sets after winning 6 breakpoints.

Zverev needed his left thigh strapped in the second set and looked disconsolate. Thiem widened his advantage with a clinical display of hitting as Austrian star was barely running for wide balls.

Dominic Thiem will either face 2016 champion and 12-time major winner Novak Djokovic or Italy's world number 72 Marco Cecchinato for a place in Sunday's final.
