CSK vs RCB Match Highlights: Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 6 wickets

The home side, the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, began their IPL 2024 with a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home. 

A mistimed or perhaps better timing led to Ajinkya Rahane's dismissal, as Cameron Green got his wicket, caught in the deep on 27 off 19 balls. Impact player Shivam Dube joins Daryl Mitchell in the middle. 

Leg spinner Karn Sharma struck in his first over as the home side lost the settled batter in Rachin Ravindra, caught in deep on 37 off 15 balls, including hitting three sixes and as many fours.

Following Chennai's superb start, RCB seamer Yash Dayal picked his first wicket this season by removing CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, caught in the first slip on 15. 

A 95-run stand between Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat for the sixth wicket helped RCB put up a fighting total (173/6) on the board. While DK remained unbeaten on 38, Rawat got run out on the last ball on 48. For CSK, Mustafizur picked 4/29.

CLEAN BOWLED! Green follows Kohli in the dugout as well. He made room and Fizz's superb length ball, angling onto leg stump, hit the timber with the Aussie moving a bit too much to make room and target the off-side. RCB 78/5 (11.4).

OUT! Kohli departs as Ajinkya Rahane grabs a sensational catch at the deep. It was a well-executed bouncer as Kohli went for a biggie. Rahane, at deep mid-wicket, caught the ball and threw it to Ravindra at deep backward square leg as he was sliding towards the boundary. Great presence of mind. RCB sliding further.

At the halfway mark, RCB 76-3 with a little partnership brewing between Green and Kohli. It will be interesting to see how Kohli responds to his critics who have questioned his strike rate in the format. 

Chahar removes Maxwell as RCB suddenly three down. Kohli, who is just a run away from 12k T20 runs, has to do the bulk of the scoring with newbie Cameron Green with him. RCB 42-3 (6).

Mustafizur, who would have not made the starting XI if Matheesha Pathirana wasn't available, strikes twice in his first over for CSK. He first removed Du Plessis, with a fine catch from Rachin Ravindra at the deep, before finding a thick edge off Rajat Patidar as his poor run continues. RCB 41-2 in 5 overs.
