T20 Australia Vs New Zealand: Martin Guptill slams century

NewZealandwon the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the fifth T20 tri-series match in Auckland on Friday.

Playing first, New Zealand has given a target of 243 runs.

For New Zealand, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro started off well and gave a good start for the team.

Guptil slammed a magnificent century and scored 105 of 54. His splendid knock included six fours and nine sixes balls.

He found a determined ally in Colin Munro who scored 76 runs of 33 balls.

Together they made 132 runs for the first wicket an both of them edged the ball of Andrew Tye in the safe hands of Maxwell.

Tim Seifert (12), Mark Chapman (16), Colin de Grandhomme (0) and Kane Williamson (1) lost their wicketsat a low score.

Ross Taylor and Ben Wheeler remained unbeaten at 17 runs and 1 run respectively.

Earlier, New Zealand's captain Kane Williamson said that the team needed to set up a solid platform to challenge the unbeaten Australians at Eden Park.

"It's a used surface but it won't change too much, so it's important we do the job first up with the bat," he said.

He saidNewZealandhad called up seamer Ben Wheeler to replace spinner Mitchell Santner, who has a knee injury.

Australia has already reached the series finale after winning all of their three previous matches, with two victories against England and one againstNewZealand.

A win would guaranteeNewZealanda spot in the decider, rendering their match against England in Hamilton on Sunday a dead rubber.

A loss means they would either have to beat England on the weekend or hope to scrape through on run rate.

Australian skipper David Warner said he would have bowled first regardless.

He said Australia retained the same team that beat England by seven wickets in Melbourne on Sunday and has dominated the series so far.

"They're playing with freedom (and) they're executing their skills," he said.
