
Vikas Thakur claimed the bronze medal in the 94kg category at the 21st Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast, Australia. He lifted a total weight of 351 kg to equal his personal best which included 159kg snatch and 192kg in clean & jerk.
Papua New Guinea's Steven Kari broke the Commonwealth as well as the Games record in clean and jerk for a total lift of 370kg (154kg+216kg) to grab the gold and the silver went to Canada's Boady Santavy, who lifted 369kg (168kg+201kg).
India have won five weightlifting gold medals so far.
Earlier today, India's 16-year-old Manu Bhaker comfortably won the gold in women's 10 air pistol while Heena Sidhu staged a remarkable recovery to secure silver.
Shooter Ravi Kumar bagging a bronze medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle final. He fired a total of 224.1 to claim bronze, while his Indian counterpart Deepak Kumar got eliminated.
