Indian Hockey team on Saturday defeatedarch-rivals Pakistan 4-0 in the opening match of the Champions Trophy in Breda, the Netherlands on Saturday.
Ramandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay scored for India as they opened their FIH Champions Trophy campaign in style.
Ramandeep Singh found himself in the perfect spot to guide the ball into the goal in the 25th minute. Simranjeet Singh fed the ball into Pakistan’s goal area and was smartly held by Ramandeep.
Pakistan put forwarded additional player by withdrawing its goal keeper in the last five minutes of the game. The move backfired as it provided India an opportunity to score two more goals in the last stage of the game.
The Pakistan team have tried to create many chances but the Indian defence has been at its best today.
Pakistan have a strong record against India but this time in-form India are the favourites.
The PR Sreejesh-led team have won six out of their 18 matches in Champions Trophy with 12 losses.
Overall, the two teams have played 172 games against each other with India winning 59, losing 82 and drawing 31.
