Champions League: Ronaldo's penalty ensures Juventus exit, Real Madrid enter semi-final

Real Madrid's star striker Cristiano Ronaldo had the final say in the crucial Champions League quarter-finals against  Juventus scoring an injury-time penalty to send his team into the semi-finals of the premier club championship on Wednesday.

Real who on top in aggregate goals after an impressive 3-0 win in Turin last week found themselves looking down the barrel falling behind in the match after Mario Mandzukic struck twice and Blaise Matuidi made it level on aggregate. The goals cancelled out Real's advantage.

Juventus though could not convert their good fortune into victory as Lucas Vazquez won a penalty in the dying moments of the game and captain Gianluigi Buffon was given a red card for venting his ire on the referee Michael Oliver.

Ronaldo's penalty kick proved too hot for substitute goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. The Portuguese star once again helped his team to enter the last four which was Real Madrid's eight consecutive entry into the Champions League semi-finals.

"This referee has no heart, he has a garbage bag instead of a heart," Buffon told Italian channel Mediaset Premium after the match. 

"If you do not have personality and courage, you should go to the stands to watch the match with your wife and a Sprite.”
