WATCH: Full form of GST is? UP minister has no clue

In an embarrassment for the Uttar Pradesh government, a minister from the state failed to spell out the full form of GST merely two days before its launch on midnight June 30.

Social Welfare, Scheduled Castes and Tribal Affairs minister Ramapati Shastri was caught on camera struggling to expand GST when asked to by reporters on Thursday.

"The full form of GST is...," fumbled Shastri.

Though someone tried to prompt the answer, it didn’t help him.

However, he hastily added that he knew the full form but was not able to recollect it instantly.

"I know the full form. I am going through all the relevant documents to gather more knowledge about the GST," Shastri said.
