Union Minister Mahesh Sharma just can't get a bungalow

Mahesh Sharma

Story highlights

Mahesh Sharma has been allotted a government residence twice and asked to vacate it both the times, first for Pranab Mukherjee and then for Ram Nath Kovind

Mahesh Sharma, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, has been allotted two government houses since he won his first election from UP's Gautam Budh Nagar in 2014 but is still living in his personal residence in Noida.

Sharma was allotted the spacious 10 Rajaji Marg in Central Delhi, which previously housed President APJ Abdul Kalam. However, within a year he was asked to vacate the premises to make way for current President Pranab Mukherjee who will live there after his five-year term ends.

Next, he was allotted 10 Akbar Road, near Bharatiya Janata Party President's residence. Just as he was settling down in the bungalow, the movers asked him to retract his way as the house was supposed to be NDA's Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind's temporary residence.

Mahesh may get the 10 Akbar Road residence if Ram Nath Kovind wins the presidential elections, after which he would move into Rashtrapati Bhawan.
