Seven Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lankan navy, news agency PTI reported.
The fishermen belonged to Mandapam located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. They were reportedly fishing at Neduntheevu, close to Sri Lanka when they were arrested and taken to Kangesanthurai port.
On July 9, three fishermen from Jagadapattinam in Pudukottai district were detained off Karainagar in northern Sri Lanka, for allegedly entering Lankan waters.
This is the third instance of arrest of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy this month.
In March this year, 77 Indian and 12 Sri Lankan fishermen in each other's custody were repatriated following the diplomatic tension triggered by the killing of a fisherman.
