Delhi most polluted
As per the latest report, 90 per cent of the world population lives in areas where air quality is very poor.
The air pollution level in Delhi currently is the highest in the world with Lahore not far behind.

Alarming rate of pollution in Delhi
As per the standards, the air pollution index above 300 is considered hazardous whereas, the pollution level in Delhi has crossed 950.
This is three times more than the hazardous air pollution level.

Air pollution causes deaths
As per the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, malnutrition is the leading cause of deaths in India while Air Pollution is at number two.
The report says air pollution leads to more premature deaths rather than high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

China is leading in premature deaths due to air pollution
In 2015, India and China experienced 52 per cent of the deaths due to air pollution.
Maximum deaths attributable to Air pollution is caused by heart disease (57 per cent).
Children below 5 years and adults above 70 years are most affected group by air pollution.
