A shooting in Bamiyan province, central Afghanistan, killed three foreigners and one Afghan on Friday, according to the interior ministry.

"One Afghan and three foreigner nationals were killed, and four foreigners and three Afghans were wounded" in gunfire in Bamiyan city, interior ministry Abdul Mateen Qani, told AFP. He did not specify how many shooters opened fire on the bystanders.

"Heard the sounds of successive gunshots, and the city streets leading to the site were blocked immediately by the security forces," a local resident who wished to remain anonymous told AFP. It was unclear if the foreigners were tourists.

Bamiyan, where the Taliban blew up the big Buddhas in 2001, is Afghanistan's most popular tourist attraction. In a statement, Qani stated that the Taliban government"strongly condemns this crime, expresses its deep feelings to the families of the victims and assures that all the criminals will be found and punished".
