Seven labourers killed in Pakistan as terrorists storm under-construction house in Panj­gur

Seven labourers were killed late on Saturday (Sept 28) in Pakistan'sPanj­gur town after terrorists stormed an under-construction house, Pakistani media reported. The terrorists were armed with automatic weapons.

A report by Dawn said that the incident occurred at the under-construction house in Panjgur'sKhuda-i-Abadan area. The report said that the construction workers were sleeping in the same room of the house that they were building. The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire.

One labourer injured in firing

Speaking to Dawn,Inspector General Police Moazzam Jah Ansari said that seven labourers were killed and one was injured in the attack.Soon after receiving information about the shooting, police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site.

Another police official told the publication that the victims belonged to the Shujabad area of Multan district. The official said it was a terrorist attack, adding that an investigation was underway.

Citing sources, the report said that in all there were nine labourers at the under-construction house. While seven were killed and one was injured, oneremaining labourer was not at the site (at the time of the attack) and is safe.

PM, President condemn attack

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack. The report said that Prime Minister Sharifsought a report (about the incident) from Balochistan Chief MinisterMir Sarfraz Bugti.

Sharif reiterated thegovernment’s resolve to take all possible measures to root out terrorism from the country.
