The government of Pakistan's Sindh province has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi as a part of security arrangements during the occasion of Chehlum, a religious observance which falls on November 9 and 10
Pillion riding has been banned for both the days, a notification issued by the government stated.
The ban has been imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the notification issued by the Sindh home department read.
The Balochistan home department also banned pillion riding in Quetta on account of Chehlum of Imam Hussain.
