
Pakistan's ministry of information has restricted the screening of Indian movies in cinemas on the occasion of Eid next month.
In a notification issued by the ministry, it said the restriction was being carried outin order to "revive and promote the local film industry."
Cinemas in Pakistan would not be allowed to screen Indian movies two days before and two weeks afterEid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, the notification said.
The notification ordered importers and distributors of foreign films to restrain from exhibiting and screening Indian films in cinemas across Pakistan.
Pakistan film exhibitors'association chairmen in Sindh and Karachi were requested to ensure the order was implemented including the chairperson of the film censor board of Punjab and Lahore.
