Nawaz Sharif, Maryam lodged in Adiala Jail, received 'B' class facilities: Live updates

Sharifs to face trial in two more NAB cases inside Adiala Jail, reports. 

According to media reports, the father-daughter duo spent their first night in the high-security Adiala Jail as VIP convicts and were provided "B" class facilities.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail after they arrived at Lahore airport from London, via Abu Dhabi, on Friday.

Thousands of people participated in the PML-N rally led by its president Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore that ended last night midnight without reaching the airport to welcome Nawaz and Maryam. 

In two other clashes in Lahore at Ravi bridge and Bhutta Chowk Lahore, seven policemen and 10 PML-N workers suffered injuries. 

At least 50 people were injured during clashes between PML-N workers and police in Pakistan's Punjab province during rallies held in connection with the arrival of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam are being taken to Islamabad via helicopter. 

The FIA team have seized their passports. 

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam have been arrested by two National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officers at Lahore airport. 

They will be taken to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.

 Quoting a Pakistani media, news agency ANI reported that Nawaz Sharif's mother Begum Shamim Akhtar and son of Shehbaz Sharif, Salman were allowed to enter the Lahore airport.

According to Pakistani media, Nawaz Sharif's flight has been diverted to Islamabad. 

Sharif's flight EY 243 was initially supposed to land in Lahore, however, the flight was diverted due to the escalating tense situation in Lahore.

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter will be taken into custody from the Adiala airport on their arrival in Lahore. The duo will be shifted to the jail by a helicopter.

Security in the region has been beefed up with 22 NAB officials, 100 elite commandos  deployed at Lahore airport.

The roads leading to the airport are blocked.

PML-N supporters head towards Lahore airport to welcome Nawaz Sharif ahead of his arrival. 

The Punjab Police has issued detention orders for senior party leaders, including former minister Saad Rafique. Reports stated that seven PML-N leaders would be detained for 30 days.

The leaders are- Saad's brother Khawaja Salman Rafique, Mian Marghoob, Bilal Yasin, Khwaja Imran Nazir, Malik Saiful Malook and Waheed Alam Khan. Also, another leader Haji Rana Bakhtiar has been ordered to be placed under house arrest.

After a brief period of delay, Nawaz Sharif's flight took off from Abu Dhabi. Sharif will reach Pakistan at 9:20 pm IST.

Up to 8,000 police officers have been deployed in Lahore, according to police chief Sajjad Hasan Man. Containers could be seen blocking some Lahore roads on Friday morning, while travel to and from the airport had reportedly been restricted.

Ahead of the arrival of Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan, his brother and PML(N) president Shahbaz Sharif urged people to reach Lahore airport to welcome him.

He said, "Currently, I am at an interior town, where people are gathering to proceed to Lahore airport to welcome him".

According to reports, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Sharif will reach Lahore at 7:45 pm PST as their flight to Pakistan is delayed for 120 minutes.

Quoting PMLN sources, ANI has reported that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam have gone to a hotel near the airport in Abu Dhabi. They have not yet been arrested and were holding consultations with some unidentified people as well as some PMLN workers.

The two are expected to board a flight to Pakistan with a NAB team onboard.

On Friday, July 6, Nawaz was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of eight million pounds was slapped on him in the Avenfield reference case, while Maryam was sentenced to seven years of jail and fined two million pounds, by the Accountability Court.
 

Nawaz Sharif's grandsons were arrested by London Police Thursday for punching a demonstrator.

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif is likely to lead a rally to Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport to receive Nawaz and Maryam.

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif have landed at UAE's Abu Dhabi International Airport. Their further destination, whether they will be taken to Islamabad or Lahore in Pakistan, is not known yet, ANI reported. 

In order to "maintain law and order" in the city, 10,000 police officers have been deployed across Lahore on Friday. 

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is endeavouring to give a rousing welcome to Nawaz and Maryam on their arrival in Lahore.

"Maryam and I are coming back to face prison and even if they send me to the gallows, we know that freedom cannot be won without sacrifice. It is not easy to leave my wife on a ventilator in a hospital but I am returning along with my daughter to play our role to rid of this slavery," several media reports quoted, Nawaz, as speaking at a party conference in the ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London's Mayfair district.

All the arrangement to shift the convicts in Adiala jail through helicopter have been completed and even the accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir has been asked to reach there, ANI reported. 

Around 22 officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and 100 elite commandos will be deputed at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport, where the two will arrive.

The National Highways and Motorway Police have been directed to close all the major entry and exit routes, for preventive measures, ANI reported. 

Sharif and Maryam Nawaz would be kept at Adiala jail for a day and then would be transferred to Pakistan's Attock Fort. 

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam will be arrested by a special NAB team at Abu Dhabi Airport later this morning. They will stay at the airport for 7 hours and will reach Lahore, Pakistan at 6.15 pm.

Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will return to the country on Friday. All national highways and motorway will remain closed ahead of the arrival of the father-daughter duo from London.
