Pakistan’s sweetheart Mahira Khan has courted another smoking controversy after she was spotted with a cigarette in hand at the recently held 17th Lux Style Awards. Looking ultra-glamorous in a contemporary white gown, Mahira was snapped talking to people backstage as she smoked without any inhibitions.
The “Raees” star who made an impact with her onscreen presence opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the Indian film, Mahira held on to her cigarette and kept the conversation on with her colleagues.
In an interview, addressing the issue, Mahira said that she “felt violated” when her images were shared on social media and were discussed.She said, "That was the first time in my entire career that I was caught up in a so-called controversy and it was strange because there were so many things in that. One, obviously you feel violated, you are in a personal downtime moment and someone has just photographed you.”
“Two, obviously there was an uproar because here I was, someone who is extremely loved in Pakistan, and they sort of keep me up on this pedestal you know, they treat me with a lot of love and a lot of respect. And there are certain things I didn't realise that they don't want to see me do,” she added.
