Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a blast that targetted a voter registration centre in Kabul, Afghanistan on Sunday.
The blast was carried out by a suicide bomber and claimed at least 48 lives wounding 112 others.
No other details were communicated by the AMAQ, the militant group's news agency.
Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danesh said a bomber on foot approached the centre where officials had been issuing identity cards as part of a process of registering voters for parliamentary elections due this year.
The attack — the latest assault targeting a voter registration centre —occured in a heavily Shia-populated neighbourhood in the west of the Kabul city.
Afghanistan on April 14 began registering voters for long-delayed legislative elections scheduled for October.
