Iranian forces open fire in Pakistan's Balochistan, killing four and injuring two amid ongoing border tension

Late on Tuesday night, Iranian soldiers opened fire in Pakistan's volatile southern region of Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of four Pakistanis andcausing injuries to two.
According to additional deputy commissionerUmar Jamali, the shooting occurred in Washuk District, close to the border between Iran and Pakistan. An investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the incident.
After the two Islamicneighbours' historic tit-for-tat military attacks this year, former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi paid a three-day official visit to Pakistan in April. One of the most important steps in restoring relations with Islamabad was Raisi's visit.
Although there has never been a cordial relationship between Iran and Pakistan, the missile strikes in January were the worst in recent memory. Pakistan cancelled all high-level diplomatic and trade engagements and recalledits ambassador back from Tehran, refusing to let his Iraniancounterpart return to Islamabad.
Tehran claimed it had attacked Jaish al Adl (JAA) group, while Islamabad claimed it had hit bases of the separatist Baloch Liberation Army and Baloch Liberation Front. The southwestern provinces of Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan and Pakistan's Balochistan are within the extremist organizations' operational territory.
