Indian-origin citizen scientist clarifies rumours of space travel

Several media outlets including WION had reported about Indian-origin Canada-basedDr Shawna Pandyamight be next in line as the third Indian-origin woman to go to space.
However, Dr Pandya in a Facebook post clarified a few things.Dr Shawna Pandya, 32 is a general practitioner based in Alberta, Canada. But many reports indicate she’s a neurosurgeon. She had trained in neurosurgery only for a short period of time. She is participating in theCitizen Science Astronaut programme but she will not be going into space.
She is a part of two projects, project PoSSUM and the PHEnOM project which are research based projects. She said her work is different from that of the work of the Canadian Space Agency and that of NASA. While she has interned at NASA-Johnson Space Center, she currently has no affiliation to either organisation.
Pandya also wrote that she is not an accomplished opera singer as reported, but had only sung once on stage.
