As Cyclone Mora hit Bangladesh coast, Indian fishermen along and off West Bengal coast have been advised not to venture into sea for the next 12 hours.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the country's north-eastern states like Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive isolated to extremely heavy rainfall.
Rainfall is predicted overmost places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh.
The cyclone could affect northeastern parts of India particularly Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Meghalaya.
Gale winds speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph would prevailover Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours, the Indian Metrological Department(IMD) said.
Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmphgusting to 65 kmph would prevail over south Assam, Meghalaya & Manipur and along & off
West Bengal coast during the next 24 hours, the IMD added.
Minor damage topower and communication lines due to the breaking of tree branches could also occur in some places, IMD warned.
