Blast in Kabul bank close to US embassy, death toll rises to 4

An explosion hit a bank in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Tuesday close to the USembassy.

Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish told Reuters the blast occurred at the entrance to a Kabul bank branch, not far from the US embassy.

At least four people have been killed and several wounded several, Reuters quoted the Afghanistan's interior ministry.

The blast occurred as people were busy withdrawing money from the bank ahead of the Eid holiday at the end of the week.

A health ministry official had told Afghanistan's Tolonews earlier that one person was killed and at least eight were injured in the blast.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
