Thousands of Rohingyas are waiting to cross over to Bangladesh fleeing violence in their home state

In order to tackle the huge refugee influx of Rohingyas from Myanmar, the Bangladesh government has proposed to fight jointly with Myanmar against the insurgents in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Thousands of Rohingyas, who fled their homes in the violence-hit state, are waiting on the borders to seek shelter in Bangladesh.

The influx was triggered by a dramatic escalation in violence between the security forces and the insurgents.

More than 100 people have been killed in the violence so far.

Around 27,400 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh to escape violence in Myanmar during the past week and a further 20,000 are marooned in no man's land between the two countries, three UNsources said on Thursday.

Rohingyas face discrimination in Myanmar as the government does not consider them citizens.
