
A woman devotee, who wasinjured in the deadly militant attack on Amarnath pilgrims last week, succumbed at a hospital early today, taking the death toll in the incident to eight.
47-year-old Lalita died due to her injuries at theSKIMS Hospital here, a police official told PTI.
On July 10, abus bearing the registration number GJ09Z 9976 was attacked by terrorists at around 8:20 pm (local time) near Khanabal when it was on its way to Jammu.
According to the police, the bus was not a part of theyatraconvoy which is being provided elaborate security. The terrorists first attacked a bullet-proof bunker of the police at Botengoo, a police official said.When the police retaliated, the terrorists fled, firing indiscriminately at the bus carrying the pilgrims.
Seven pilgrims, six of them women, were killed and 32 were injured.
