Afghanistan: Two killed in suicide attack near election commission office in Jalalabad

Dozens of protesters had gathered in support of a parliamentary candidate who was disqualified by the electoral officials over his suspected links with illegal armed groups.
Two people were killed in a suicide attack on Saturday near the election commission office in Afghanistan's eastern city of Jalalabad, news agency Reuters reported.
According to reports, a suicide attacker detonated explosives at a site where dozens of protesters had gathered in support of a parliamentary candidate. As per reports, the candidate was disqualified by the electoral officials over his suspected links with illegal armed groups.
"The blast took place at 11 am targeting the sit-in of a disqualified candidate... it killed two people, and four others were wounded," Nangarhar provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told reports.
As many as four people were wounded in the attack, Provincial health director Najib Kamawal confirmed.
