mAadhaar, the newly launch app will transfer your Aadhar Card into a virtual one

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched an app called mAadhaar which will change your Aadhaar card into a virtual one.

At present, the app is available for Android users only and can be accessed by an easy download from Google Play Store. A registered Aadhaar linked mobile number is required to operate the app.

The Aadhaar profile on phone will help the users to secure their biometric details by locking and unlocking the data. The unlock will be temporary. Besides this, the app will also allow viewing and sharing updated Aadhaar profile via Quick Response (QR) code and sharing eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) details.

UIDAI has warned the people of the potential bugs and issues that may arise with the use of this app calling the app to be in beta mode. Users will be able to avail some of the services only after the app is updated. The app has a "Time based one-time Password (TOTP)" that can be used instead of SMS based OTP.
