A 13-year-old boy from Madhya Pradesh attempted suicide on Thursday while apparently <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/blue-whale-challenge-death-friends-knew-mumbai-teen-was-playing-game-18456">playing the &lsquo;Blue Whale&#39; challenge</a>.&nbsp;

The teenager attempted to jump from the third floor of his school in Indore but was saved by fellow students, police told PTI.

The boy, who studies in Class VII, climbed the railing of a balcony in his school and tried to jump off but other students pulled him back.&nbsp;

&quot;Initial investigation suggests that the boy had been playing the Blue Whale game on his father&#39;s cellphone for the last couple of days,&quot; additional superintendent of police Rupesh Kumar Dwivedi told PTI.&nbsp;

&quot;We think he was tense in the last couple of days, thinking about committing suicide to accomplish the final 50th task of the game,&quot; Dwivedi added.&nbsp;

In a separate incident, a 14-year-old boy from Maharashtra&rsquo;s Solapur, who was allegedly on his way to Pune to complete &quot;a task&quot;&nbsp;given to him as part of the &lsquo;Blue Whale challenge&rsquo; was rescued by the police.&nbsp;

The police on Wednesday intercepted the bus in which the boy was travelling. &nbsp;

&quot;As soon as we were informed by our counterparts in Solapur, we intercepted the bus and rescued the boy, who was on his way to complete a task given by the Blue Whale Challenge game,&quot; a Bhigwan police station official told PTI.&nbsp;

The police official said the boy looked &ldquo;lost&rdquo; and was silent when the police took him with them.&nbsp;

&quot;After the boy went missing, his parents started inquiring with his friends when they came to know that he was playing the Blue Whale Challenge,&quot; the police official added.&nbsp;

The Blue Whale challenge, which reportedly originated in Russia, calls on participants to complete a series of self-harm tasks over 50 days. It allegedly encourages them to win by committing suicide.&nbsp;
