Indian actors who are contesting in Lok Sabha elections 2019

Sunny Deol makes his debut in politics this election season. The actor has joined BJP and is likeyly to contest from Gurdaspur, Punjab. 

Urmila Matondkar has been making head turn with her controversial remarks on the ruling party. The actress is contesting from Mumbai-North on a Congress ticket. 

Ravi Kishan was earlier part of Congress party and had even contested in 2014 general elections. This time, the actor is contesting from Gorakhpur, UP on a BJP ticket. 

Sitting MP from Mathura, veteran actress Hema Malini drew a lot flak for her social media posts during her campaign trail as many felt that she only posed for photos and did not actually do much work for her contituency. The actress is contesting from the same place on a BJP ticket and hoping to get re-elected. 

Celebrity couple Shtarughan and Poonam Sinha are infact contesting from two different parties. Shatrughan Sinha quit BJP a few weeks back and joined the Congress party. The veteran actor will be contesting from Patna Sahib constituency. Meanwhile his wife, Poonam Sinha will contest from Lucknow parliamentary constituency on a Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket  

Bengali actress Mimi Chakraborty is contesting from Jadavpur Constituency on TMC ticket. A well-known face is Bengali cinema, the actress makes her debut in politics this election season. 

Former actress and now Uninion minister, Smriti Irani will contest from Amethi against Rahul Gandhi. Irani had contested from the same constituency in 2014 and lost to Gandhi. 

Union Minister Kirron Kher will be contesting from Chandigarh on a BJP ticket. 

Another actress who is making her debut in politics this season is Bengali actress Nusrat Jahan who like Mimi will be contesting on a TMC ticket from Basirhat parliamentary constituency in West Bengal.

Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua takes on former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav in Azamgarh. Yadav is part of BJP. 

Actor,singer and now politician Manoj Tiwari takes on Congress' Sheila Dixit in North-West Delhi constituency on a BJP ticket. 

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's son, actor Nikhil Gowda takes on popular Kannada film star Ambareesh's widow Sumalatha in Mandya constituency in Karnataka. 

Actress Moonmoon Sen, daughter of legendary star Suchitra Sen, will be contesting from Asansol on a Trinamool Congress ticket. 

Ace comedian and sitting MP Innocent takes on Congress veteran Benny Behanan in Chalakudy, Kerala. 

Veteran actress and politician Jaya Prada, who was previously with the Samajwadi Party (SP), joined the BJP on March 26.  Jaya Prada had started her political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1994.
