India men's hockey team lost to Germany 3-2 in the semifinal on Tuesday (Aug 6) at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 and failed to reach the gold medal match. They will now play for their second consecutive bronze.

India wrestler Vinesh Phogat beat Cuba's Guzman Lopez 5-0 in women's 50kg freestyle semi-final on Tuesday (Aug 6) at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. With the win, Vinesh entered the final and assured a gold or silver medal for India.

Indi has drawn first blood in the men's hockey semifinal as they took 1-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Harmanpreet Singh-led hockey team will square off against Germany in the mega semifinal at the Paris Games, later today at 10:30 PM IST. A win will take them to the historic final, where they will face Netherlands (who beat Spain in the first semifinal a while ago).

In the semifinal clash, to be held later today, Vinesh Phogat will lock horns with Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, who beat Gabija Dilyte 10:0. 

Vinesh Phogat, who earlier beat world's best wrestler Yui Susaki, has stormed into the semifinals of the women's 50k event after beating Ukraine's Oksana Livach 7-5 in the quarterfinals.

Kiran Pahal fell flat as she failed to qualify for the semifinals of the women's 400-metre repechage round, finishing last in her heats with a timing of 52.59.

Earlier, the Indian men's TT team bowed out with Manav Thakkar losing to Wang Chuqin as India crashed out after losing 0-3 to China in the Round of 16. The women's team, however, is still alive. 

Vinesh Phogat has beaten Yui Susaki of Japan in the wresling bout as she qualifies for next round. It was an upset of sorts, considering she was against the Olympic champion.

Kishore Jena records an 80.21m throw on his last attempt. He is still in the seventh spot in a field of 16 throwers and three have already qualified by touching the automatic mark of 84m.

3:20 PM. The athletes who meet the Qualification Standard of 84m, or the top 12 throwers, will progress to the final.

2:30 PM onwards: Wrestling - Vinesh Phogat in the women's 50kg freestyle pre-quarterfinals.

2:50 PM: Athletics - Kiran Pahal will be action in the women's 400m repechage round.

10:30 PM: Hockey - India vs Germany in men's semifinal.
