Be it sports or tech field, everyday we see new names of hard working women entering the male oriented arena and making it big. However, the struggle which women go through to achieve these heights should not be ignored or forgotten. Adding to this list of inspiring names, Anny Divya overcame all the obstacles and became the world's first youngest woman pilot to fly world's largest twinjet. Making history in the Indian aviation sector, she has set some real goals for generations to follow.
Anny Divya started her journey to become a pilot when she was just 17 years old. She joined Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) in Raebareli UP after finishing her school in Vijaywada. Anny was always devoted to her dream of becoming a pilot and she said in an interview that her parents were supportive of her decisions and facilitated a loan for her education at IGRAU. She further added that she was born in a time when being a pilot was not considered as a profession for girls. Facing all the prejudices in this male dominated profession, Anny did not lose the hope to fly.
Anny was born in Pathankot and later moved to Vijaywada after her father took a voluntary retirement from the army. Coming from a small town, Anny was mocked for her english speaking skills but she did not let these factors turn her down and maintained the dedication with which she started her journey. Despite all the hardship which she experienced due to cultural differences, she emerged a winner in achieving her dreams. She completed her training from IGRUA at the age of 19 and got a job letter from Air India.
Becoming a pilot at a very young age, Anny wished to bring that much awaited change in the world which will motivate young women to take up professions other than engineering and medical. Ever since she got her first job in Air India, she became a part of many first hand trainings in the aviation sector and travelled to Spain and London.
Her journey from a small town of Punjab to being a castle building pilot in the sky has set a new benchmark in the aviation sector worldwide.
