'Women are backbone of our country,' Sachin Tendulkar

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday said that women are the backbone of our country.

The Master Blaster was speaking at Kolkata police's annual sports meet where he acknowledged the efforts of housewives and working women.

"I still remember, as a child when one would come back home, one would always expect mother to be around. They do everything possible for you and we took all those things for granted," he added.

"For women to take care of their house and to do their job is credible and full marks to you for your commitment," he shared.

At the event, Tendulkar was also joined by footballer PKBanerjee.
