Woman allegedly gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man and his two associates in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said today.

The police have registered a case against three people, who are absconding, station house officer Bhagwat Singh said.

The incident occurred when the woman had gone to field at Brala village.

The victim's husband in a complaint alleged that his wife had gone to fetch grass from the field when the accused, along with his two associates, raped her.

They also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone, he alleged.

The victim has been sent for medical examination, police said.
