Goa's town and country planning minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday refused to take back his comment made on domestic tourists.
Sardesai previously referred to domestic tourists as "scum of the earth" and opined that the Goa government should encourage high-spending tourists over the domestic ones for the welfare of the economy.
The minister noted that his remark was not against north Indian tourists neither did he intend to come across as xenophobic. He noted that he sticks to his comment made previously and has no intentions of apologising for the same.
Sardesai noted that he voiced the general sentiment of the locals.
He also noted that the domestic tourists create themaximum nuisance and spread garbage in the state.
