Vadgam MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani said on Monday that he will be campaigning against the BJP in the upcoming Karnataka state assembly polls.
Speaking at an event to mark the 56th birth anniversary of slain journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, Jignesh Mevani said, "An alliance of all mainstream political parties and concrete people's alliance should come together to defeat 'chaddidharis' in the state."
Mevani said he would tell the Dalits in the state not to vote for the BJP.
"I am coming to Karnataka in April to campaign for three weeks to make sure that the 20% of Dalits votes won't go to the BJP", Mewani said during his speech at Gauri Day programme at the Town Hallon Monday.
He further statedthat some "ideological compromises" must be made in order to defeat BJP, he said while stating how 15 parties had campaigned for him in the recent elections in Gujarat.
He also talked about how Modi government failed to give youth any employment, after a number of promises. He also suggested that Modi should retire and said that he plans to come up with ideas to generate employment in the nation.
Mevani recently made headlines after being denied permission to hold a Yuva Hunkar rally in New Delhi.
