Clashes broke out between police and protesters in north Kashmir after a woman's braid was allegedly chopped offtriggering massive protest in the area.

Locals in the area suspecteda man belonging to India's territorial Army had cut the woman's braid, as a result some men in the area began hitting the solider evenas army and police tried to rescue him.

The incident took place at Reddi Chowkibal and Kralpora areaof Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

Later, the protesters pelted stones at theforces with stones who retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells.
