Watch: Music video for the ?Not in My Name? campaign against mob lynching

"Not in My Name" campaign is back and this time it has a music video for those who follow their work.

The campaign had started when the number of mob lynching against Muslims in India reached an all time high. Most recently, campaigners got together in June to protest under the name "Not in My Name" when on June 23, Junaid Khan, a 16-year-old Muslim boy was stabbed to death in a Mathura-bound train on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr this year.

Thousands of people had come out on streets across26 different cities in India to protest against this act among many others.

The campaignhas now been relaunched, and August 27 is being observed by campaigners as a day to “say no to hatred”.

The music videois titled Hamaare Naam Par Nahi (Not In My Name) and is part of the ongoing movement to stop hatred. It calls upon people to “stand up to say no to hatred and violence in the name of religion and caste”, describing itself as “Nafrat ke khilaf hum sab ki aawaz.”

The video is directed by Asheesh Pandya, Reena Mohan and Nirmal Chander and uses footage from the protests in June. It includes videos of Trippy Sama accompanied by a band who sings melodic lines written by Gauhar Raza:

“Nahi humaare naam par nahi
Yeh nafratein yeh dhamkiyan, humaare naam par nahi
Yeh kaatilon ki toliyan humaare naam par nahi...”

“No, not in my name
This hatred and these threats, not in my name
These mobs of killers, not in my name...”

On August 27, in Delhi, the campaigners plan to initiate 100 plus events and protests.These will be spread across residential areas, on streets and important intersections, everywhere where people want to join in and say - #NafratKeKhilafDilliKiAwaaz

After the campaign gained momentum in June, Prime Minister Modi spoke against hatred.

The lynchingand assaults on Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis and other minorities have still not stopped with news related to the same coming from all parts of the country.
