Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu led a cycle rally in Amaravati today demanding "special status" for Andhra Pradesh which has become a bone of contention between the state and Centre in the past month.

The Telugu Desam Party(TDP) chief conducted a cycle rally to the Secretariat with several party workers joining him as the issue of "special status" to Andhra Pradesh continued to keep gather pace in the state.

Last month Naidu had pulled out his party leaders Ashok Gajapathi Raju who held the civil aviation cabinet post and Y S Chowdary who was minister of state in science and technology post while severing ties with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Several TDP members including Chandrababu Naidu have taken up the cause of "special status" in Parliament raising protests in both Houses. However, the Centre has refused to comply with TDP's protests with finance minister Jaitley rejecting the idea.
