Video: Girl dies after dog falls on her from five-storey building in Maharashtra
A dog fell on a 3-year-old girl from the 5th floor
In a shocking turn of events, a three-year-old girl from a Mumbai suburb died Tuesday (Aug 6) after a dog fell on her from a five-storey building. CCTV footage showed the moment the dog fell off the fifth floor and landed on the girl walking alongside her mother in a narrow street. The mother rushed the girl to a hospital in an unconscious state but was pronounced dead by the doctors.
The incident took place in the Amrit Nagar area of Mumbra, some 30 km away from Mumbai.
The unconscious girl was first taken to a hospital in Kalwa, but later she was transferred to Kalsekar Hospital for a CT scan. There, she was declared dead.
The dog, a Golden Retriever, also suffered injuries and was taken to an animal hospital. The CCTV footage showed the dog standing up on its own after a few seconds.
It was not immediately clear what caused the dog to fall from the building or if somebody pushed it, which amounts to animal cruelty.
Police are investigating the incident.
Local Mumbra police station meanwhile filed an accidental death report in the case.
According to a police statement, the girl was the only child of the parents and was born 10 years after their marriage.
