Family dispute led to the two women being nearly buried alive
Two women in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh were nearly killed after a truck driver attempted to bury them under a massive load of gravel on Saturday (Jul 20). The attack took place in a small village called Hinauta in the Rewa district of the state with the horrific video of the incident going viral on social media.
The women,Mamta Pandey and Asha, were protesting against road construction in the area, which they said was coming up on their leased land. As they protested, the situation escalated.
The driver of the dumper truck, Vipin Pandey, acting on the behest of a local strongman, arrived with gravel and dumped it all on the two women who were nearly buried under it.

After the incident, the villagers could be seen rushing to the spot and using primitive tools to remove the gravel and free up the two women. They both were taken to theCommunity Health Centre in Gangev, from where they were discharged after some time.
According to the police, it was a family land dispute between the two sides. A case under attempt to murder has been lodged and Pandey arrested, while two others have been made accused. The dumper used in the incident has also been seized by the authorities.
"The women were protesting, and the dumper overturned the gravel, burying them. Both parties have a dispute over family land," said Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Lal.
"First, there was a physical altercation, and then the gravel was thrown on Mamta and Asha Pandey," he added.
Congress, the opposition party in the state, lashed out at the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government over its silence on the matter.
