Three Muslim madrasa teachers were last night beaten by six-seven unidentifieds youth while they were deboarding a train in western Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat.
The incident occurred after the madrasa teachers, who boarded the train at Delhi last night and were on their to their village in Baghpat, had an argument with the youth who then beat them up with sharp objects.
News reports quoted the three, Gulzar, Israr and Abrar,as saying that they were getting off the train when the youth bolted the exits and started beating them up. They added that one of the attackers allegedly asked them why they were wearing a scarf.
The victims and some of their supporters later got down at Amhaida station and lodged their protest against the incident. A case was registered against six unidentified persons at the Baghpat Kotwali police station, Superintendent of Police, Baghpat, Jaiprakash Singh said.
In June, a 16-year-old youth, Junaid, was lynched on a Mathura-bound train near Delhi by a mob who called them "anti-nationals" and "beef eaters".
