On Wednesday, State minister K Surendran said women should be allowed to offer prayers at the Sabarimala Temple

Every woman has the right to pray and that is their constitutional right, and it does not depend on the laws, the Supreme court said on Wednesday during the hearing in the case of the traditional ban on the entry of women between 10 and 50 years of age in the famous Sabarimala temple.

"Every woman is also the creation of God and why should there be discrimination against them in employment or worship," said Justice DY Chandrachud, who was part of the five-judge constitutional bench that was hearing the case.

The bench includes RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, and Indu Malhotra and is headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra

Last year, in October they referred to an important issue that whether this traditional ban amounts to discrimination against women and violates their fundamental rights under the constitution.

On Wednesday, State minister K Surendran said all women, irrespective of their age should be allowed to offer prayers at the Sabarimala Temple.
