The Telangana government has taken up the Charminar Pedestrian Project (CPP) on priority mode as US President's daughter Ivanka Trump makes her way to the city.
Ivanka Trump is in Hyderabad today, heading the delegation scheduled to be a part of theGlobal Entrepreneurship Summit which has started from today, November 28.
The Charminar Pedestrian project will now get a kickstart after 17 years. A series of discussions have been going around on this matter since 2000 when the then-government allocated Rs 139 cr for the project.
However, post-2000, the project never really took off.
With a new lease of life, the pedestrian project around the 425-year-old monument would help generate both direct and indirect employment, thus increasing the revenue of the government.
The immovable asset prices near the monument would also get an upward spike in this project. Not least to mention, but with the heritage structure enhanced, the tourism activity will increase further enriching the livelihoods of the people living near it.
The project cost was estimated to be Rs 479.86 crore in 2010 but only GHMC received only Rs 1 crore for the project in the year 2015 and so far only 10% of the project is completed.
The rest is expected to be completed in the next one year.
