According to reports, Telangana tops all states in the country when it comes to the growth rate in state tax revenues with 17.6 per cent growth rate from June 2014 to May 2018.

Telangana has registered the highest growth rate of 17.6 per cent, a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General stated. Haryana stood second at 14.2 per cent, Maharashtra with 13.9 per cent came third. Odisha came fourth with 12.4 per cent and West Bengal stood at the fifth spot with 10.3 per cent growth rate.

Telangana recorded 13.7 per cent tax revenue growth rate during 2015-16, 21.1 per cent during 2016-17 and 16.8 per cent during 2017-18.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao attributed the growth rate to progressive fiscal policies, fiscal discipline, among other measures taken to achieve the impressive result despite the adverse effects of demonetization and GST on state's finances.
