
Three civilians were killed and as many injured after security forces allegedly opened fire on protesters during clashes as they tried to conduct a search operation in Redwani village of south Kashmir.
Among the killed is a teenage girl, who has been identified as Andleeb, daughter of Ali Mohammad.
Official sources told WION that army's patrolling party opened fire on a group of youth after they pelted stones on them in Hawoora area of Khudwani near Redwani area.
Six civilians were injured in the firing theywere rushed to a local hospital where three succumbed to their injuries.
The other deceased have been identified as Shakir Ahmad Khanday, 22, son of Mohd Hussain Khanday and Irshad Ahmad, 20, son of Abdul Majeed from Kulgam district.
After the death of the civilians, protests erupted in the area and were going on till the last report came in.
The death of the three persons has triggered further protests, due to which the government has suspended internet services in the area.
The Valley was observing a shutdown today on the call given by separatists against the detention of woman separatist Asiya Andrabi by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The shutdown is expected to continue till Sunday, on the second death anniversary of slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
